A freezing hello, fellow bloggers and/or blog readers! My name is Final_Apo
calypse7000 a.k.a. Vincent VG and for my very first blog, which is just for fun, I'll be writing about Modern Warfare 2.
For those who are familiair with MW2, I don't need to explain what this game is all about. For those who have been living under a rock for the past year, MW2 is the follow-up title of CoD 4: Modern Warfare and is just like any other FPS.
Now, MW2 is built up in 3 game modes. You start with playing the campaign, which is shorter then the campaign of it's predecessor, and after completing it, you'll unlock Spec Ops. Spec Ops is basically just you going solo on 23 missions. And last but not least you have the Multiplayer mode, which is present in just about every FPS game I know. I'll tell you about each of these modes and my personal opinion and experience on them below.
Single Player / Campaign : The campaign is just you playing through the story, which picks up from where CoD 4's campaign ended, in 18 missions. You'll first be playing as PCF. Joseph Allen, who starts with helping to train local militia in Fire Base Phoenix in Afghanistan. After that you'll be playing throug another mission and then his last mission in which he dies : No Russian. This is a special mission which I will cover later on. After Allen's death, you'll pick up the story again as Sgt. Gary "Roach" Sanderson and Pvt. James Ramirez. You'll be playing as them up 'till the end of the campaign. The last character you'll be playing as is Cpt. John "Soap" MacTavish who faces MW2's main antagonist, General Shepherd.
Overall the campaign is shorter and less dynamic then Cod 4's campaign. Sure it's fun to play through it for the very first time and after that you can choose which story mission to play if you feel like reliving a certain story moment. But in the long shot, it gets pretty boring. It all just feels like getting from point A to point B while shooting any enemies in your way. CoD 4's campaign at least was longer, the levels were bigger and harder to complete and they really pulled you into the action. You were actually feeling an epic atmosphere while playing the missions. They were also a lot more dynamic then in MW2's campaign. The legendary "All Ghillied Up" and "One Shot, One Kill" missions were the highlights of CoD 4's campaign for me.
It should be noted that during the campaign of MW2 you can find a total of 45 enemy intels, which if all of them are found, SHOULD give you acces to using cheats in the campaign, just like in CoD 4. However, in this installment, this is not the case. Instead you can only unlock 2 lousy achievements. Achievements in general are fun to get in this game. Luckily I found a YT video (up) showing me how to manually insert cheats in the campaign, giving it a whole new experience. These cheats range from Superjump, to Slow-Motion, to enemies not being able to notice you and what not else.
The No Russian mission is a special mission, meaning you have to shoot everyone dead at an airport along with your fellow terrorist "buddies". However, in the end, when you flee to the escape vehicle, Makarov(MW2's second antagonist) shoots you dead. I think this is a great mission to show how evil Makarov is. People are making useless discussions about this mission because of it's content but it's just a fuckin' game people! It's not real! Who cares if you shoot ingame people dead? Does it matter if the people you shoot at have guns or not? No!
Spec Ops : As previously said, MW2's second game mode is spec ops. This mode let's you go solo or together with a friendn through 23 missions. Overall they can be fun to complete, especially if you complete them on veteran difficulty (the highest difficulty ingame) so you can get 3 awesome stars. Some of them however are just pieces of the campaign you have to play through AGAIN, this time just solo. This is very unoriginal in my opinion. But just like campaign, it can get boring after a while. Luckily, the cheats you can use in the campaign also work in Spec Ops. 1 interesting thing to note is that there is a unique enemy you'll first encounter in Spec Ops : The Juggernaut. No, I don't mean that dude from X-Men, but from MW2. Juggernauts are basically normal enemies, BUT they have a SHITLOAD of ARMOR on them, meaning they can take A LOT OF BULLETS before they die. Not to mention they deal INSANE damage to you as well. Hell, these assholes are so badass, they just run into you (follow you) instead of taking cover. Making you literally run for your life. They can best be taken out with Sniper Rifles as this takes only 5-6 shots to the head to kill them. But you can expect a lot of trouble if you're facing more then 1.

Multiplayer : Aah, multiplayer..a vital aspect in every FPS game. Isn't it fun to just play diferent game modes with other people and possibly make friends on the way? Generally, yes, in MW2 NO. In the beginning it's fun to play yes, but the thing about MW2's MP is that it's broken. Here is a small list of thing I personally HATE about the MP :
- Grenadiers are so overpowered, they can always kill someone directly if aimed well.
- There are so many snipers lurking around every map, you can't set a footstep without getting sniped.
- Expect a lot of flash storms. People sometimes throw like 4 flash grenades at a time at you, making you unable to do anything and end up dying.
- Some players are just incredible jerks. They sometimes say u suck at life if u get killed by an enemy.
- There's almost no team work whatsoever. If you play team deathmatch, there's no cooperation between players, everybody goes solo.
- Some killstreaks like AC-130 and Chopper Gunner are too overpowered and cheap once attained.
- Tactical Nuke(the highest killstreak) ends the game permanently and if you get one after getting 25 kills IN A ROW, people see you as a god (some have an orgasm if they get 1) and the game ends after 10 seconds after activation for everyone.
A good example of people's reactions to a Tactical Nuke.
- But the biggest problem are hackers, these shitheads, who have no skill, use aimbots and wallhacks as they please. Some don't even try to hide the fact they're using them but they can't be kicked from a game so you CAN'T do shit about it (at least on the PC version). And there are many, many hackers walking around and if u dare to complain that they're ruining the game, they call u a crybaby.
- Players who actually capture the flag in CTF or get domination points in domination often have to do this on their own since all the other players are only interested in getting a high Kill/Death ratio. Again, a good example of NO TEAMWORK.
- Last but not least, if u use team chat in a game mode, everybody can read it. So if someone from team A gets killed by someone from team B and wants to inform his teammates about the location of the enemy, instead of only team A being able to read team messages from team A members, team B can also read it, ruining some attempts to help teammates.
